Found throughout the American tropics, Africa, Australia, and in Asia, the fruit of the Carica papaya plant, which is known as papaya/pawpaw, was dubbed “The Fruit of the Angels” by Christopher Columbus over 500 years ago…

Boasting with minerals of calcium, iron, phosphorous and potassium, papayas, are a good source of fiber and help fight various bodily infections. Similar to an avocado, this lively miracle fruit is consumed by individuals throughout the world, because its medicinal attributes contain vitamin A, B, C, E, and K and help prevent colon cancer!

So on your next visit to your local grocery store or market make sure to pick up a few papayas (p.s. its peppery seeds are also very good for you)! Pham Fatale’s divine “papaya smoothie” recipe is featured below:

Papaya Smoothie:

-2 1/2 c. milk

-1 cubed papaya

-1 ct. crushed ice

-1/3 cup honey

-fresh mint leaves

-1/2 c. coconut water

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth. Pour into glasses, and garnish with mint leaves.
