How To: Make Alkaline Water

It has been almost a year now since I dedicated my life to the alkaline lifestyle and I feel amazing!

What’s the alkaline lifestyle? Well according to the Alkaline Sisters it’s “a way of life” to “bring your body’s pH –acid versus alkaline– into balance by consuming a higher volume of alkaline foods and fluids”; so that your body can be “healthy, vibrant, and energetic, free of sickness and disease”.  With this new lifestyle I now consume mostly fruits and vegetables during the day, seafood or poultry for dinner (yes that means no more beef and pork for me) in which I stick to the 80/20 rule (80% veggies & 20% proteins), and I drink lots and lots of alkaline water throughout day…

What’s alkaline water? Alkaline water differentiates itself from regular drinking water because it has a higher pH which is much healthier for your internal system. This miracle water is far superior to fluoridified/purified water because it can “neutralize acid in your bloodstream, boost your metabolism and help your body absorb nutrients more effectively”; and these things cannot be accomplished by consuming the latter types of water. For this reason, I now only guzzle alkaline, mineral, and spring water (because it is alive!).

So how do you make your drinking water alkaline? It’s fairly easy! An 8 oz. glass of water can be turned alkaline by using an alkalizing machine or by mixing in the following things:

  1. a half /quarter of a squeezed citrus fruit (lemon, lime, grapefruit, and/or orange)
  2. pieces of a watermelon
  3. 1/2 tsp. of baking soda
  4. 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar

Vinegar? Yes apple cider vinegar! I know it sounds completely disgusting to drink “vinegar water” but it’s actually quite fathomable once you get accustomed to drinking it, and it is actually one of the healthiest things you can ever possibly drink. ACV is one of the oldest proven remedies used to help turn the human body back to an alkaline state from one of acidity and is recommended for consumption twice a week by many health practitioners. Therefore, I drink this concoction a few times a week quickly during breakfast, just to get it out the way and so that I can get on with the rest of my day and not have to worry about drinking it later.

So there you  have it… It’s now time to wake up and take control of what you put into your body, so toss your old water drinking habit behind and go alkaline!
